California, Day 1

3:30am Wake up

4:00am Leave Ammie & Poppy’s and drive to Austin

7:00am Flight takes off from Austin to Los Angeles

So yeah... it was an early morning. But the good news is that we landed at LAX not long after 8:00 so that was nice! Picked up the rental car (so glad we reserved it months ago as there’s a current rental car shortage and it’s even more expensive than it was), got a quick breakfast at McDonalds, then we drive to Venice Beach and up to Malibu. We enjoyed the scenic ocean views and drove by some Malibu celebrity homes. 

Decided to head back and check into our airport hotel, and—long story short—we weren’t pleased with it so we left and were able to drive to San Diego and check in a day early to our Airbnb there. So... here we are!

We are loving this amazing little “granny flat”. So stylish and cozy! We have been a bit exhausted and are winding down (since we’ve been up since 1:30am in California time).

Prom 2021

It’s time for Junior+Senior Prom! (Can you believe it?!) Abby and her best friend Bella wanted Carson to come along and then Alissa joined them too! They all went as friends and had a nice time. We all went over to Bella's house to hang out and eat dinner while everyone was getting ready. Then (of course) we took lots of pictures before the kids headed out. They looked SO BEAUTIFUL/HANDSOME!! 

They went to prom for about an hour and then went to Whataburger (the real highlight of the evening) before heading back to our house. They said prom itself was kinda "meh", but they had fun going out and getting dressed up. I'm glad Abby and Carson got to have this experience together. I overheard her say the other day that "he is my real best friend." I love that they love each other.
