'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus
Louisa M. R. Stead, 1882
’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, “Thus saith the Lord!”
Refrain:
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!
I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.

Funny moment: Tonight as I was getting ready to sing to Abby, I asked her to close her eyes, and she said (exasperated), "Mom, it usually goes like this: you sing and then the child just falls asleep on their own while you're singing." Well, now I know. I hadn't realized there was a particular protocol for lullabies.

We've used Lullaby by the Dixie Chicks to get the babies to sleep. I've sung it to them too on occasion.
ReplyDeleteEvery night we sing Michael Card's "Barocha" to our kids. They sing it with us. (It's a blessing from the book of Numbers.) Before I even had babies I knew I wanted that to be a tradition! I'm so glad it stuck.
ReplyDeleteBefore I was ever even married, I knew I wanted to sing Michael Card's "Barocha" ("the Lord bless you & keep you..." from Numbers) as a lullaby to my kids one day. We sing it with them every night - they sing along. It is a dream come true for me!
